Teen license act to ban talking & texting

Federal lawmakers have renewed their campaign for a nationwide standard for graduated driver licensing that would outlaw use of cell phones and text messaging for the young motorists. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Rep. Tim Bishop, D-N.Y., reintroduced the Safe Teen And Novice Driver Uniform Protection Act (STANDUP Act) this week. 9 in 10 teenage drivers distracted? LOL

This week's alarming numbers about nine in 10 teenage drivers engaging in distracted behaviors deserve a closer look. The widely publicized survey, done for Seventeen magazine and AAA, talked to 2,000 drivers between the ages of 16 and 19. 86 percent of those teens said they engaged in distracted driving at some point.
